40 kinds of sadness. | 7:52 AM

moving on to the subject of the absolutely wonderful si han, i shall state the aim of today's blogpost:

to find out why certain people are angsting! (no, not me)

in the light of the recent pressure of MYAs and the absolutely competitive rat-race society of Singapore's meritocracy-based education system,

a) Angst over popularity
Man, that's some weird thing. But in actual fact it's quite true in a sense, where people get left out. But to another extent it's just plain ridiculous to be overly jealous of someone who's supposedly more 'popular' to the opposite gender. In actual fact there's no point angsting over the fact that "i'm not popular! D:" unless you're gonna try to change. The number of "well-wishes" count too.

HAHA.

b) CCTs
With the evolution of tests from quizes to exams to test to Conniving Crafty Tests, we can see that these banes are constantly changing and complexing students to a greater extent then ever before. For example, after physics CCT today i started laughing because i was surprised that i had to take so long to do a test which i crapped up half the answers. But it's a valid reason to be angsty about (sounds funny) since they directly affect your university application, JC entry points, pocket money, number of computer games you get...

c) Stress!
Closely related to CCTs, this peculiar form of energy is ever-present in our situation. It is emitted in forms of CCA Commitments, tests, and girlfriends. though the last one's reserved for certain people with videos spreading like wildfire. Others include self-thought failure in competition (:/) along with parental obligations.

As long as they're not like the ones reflected in the recent newspapers :O

d) opposite gender
'nuff said. you can go find out yourself from your resident Tickle Me Emo! Stufftoy.

Speaking of which, buy a GLtheLeenipus stuff toy today! Dressed in the RIPE (yum) clothing, this special plushie comes in a full size figurine for only $5.99 from your local toy store! Special and upgraded functions include emitting a squeak whenever you press the orange button at its stomach along with the ability to run 2.4KM in less then 8.30 minutes. 4.0 GPA for physics is included in the limited edition package.

PS: Note the 20% of zao sia-ing in every sentence.

Shakespeare 24!

was pretty interesting and a well-spent 8 bucks for about 2 1/2 hours of literature play. FYI, it's this celebration to commemorate Shakespeare's 444th Birthday (he's an oldie) so many of his plays are currently being staged all over the globe! Pretty cool, no?

So RI and RJC and HCI (the JC?) collaborated together to perform on 2 nights together. RI was Macbeth, HCI was uh, can't remember the name? (no school rivalry here!) and RJC. I think RJ's one was 12th Night or something.

RI's was the most politically correct and serious one, albeit slightly boring at the start as it was too slow. Well then again, Macbeth's supposed to be a tragedy, and the use of the shadow puppets were really cool! freaky, too.

HCI was another rather funny one. They used loads of REALLY BAD innuendos, for example: "Some have greatness thrust into them!" which sent the entire audience "woooooooah-ing." the people beside guanlin were albeit rather irritating as they kept laughing at the top of their voices (think hyenas) and stepped on their seats.

RJC was yet another "HAHAHA-ing" one! the acting was really funny - Titus owns man. no wonder the actors are all in theatre studies because they were really really good. I didn't really get the connection between the corporation and fairyland though.

i think that 8bucks was really well-spent.

Along with boardbirthdays! where people get taopoked, soaked with water and play PE in uniform.

not that different. | 7:40 AM

i've been stuck at this orange blue and blank white page for the past few days and i realised i've got a blank mind to spill out. jamming sessions really rock though (literally?) but with the upcoming 2 performances by Shakespeare 24 and Army Daze, it's gonna be a hell of a 3 days ahead. Did i mention the CCTs are around the corner as well?

it's x-country tomorrow though, so good luck to gltheleeni along with mchia. let's go raffles x-country!

i think i'm just more confused than ever.

1. to perplex or bewilder
2. to make unclear or indistinct
3. to fail to distinguish between; associate by mistake; confound: to confuse dates
4. to disconcert or abash

NYMD Concert! - Hat Full of Stars 2

was pretty interesting, i guess with the including of the mentally challenged people (is it?) dancing with the other MDers. 12 bucks just flew out of the window! :/

bob mabellim and ryangoh were late so we couldn't reserve seats even if we wanted to. they came at 7.35 (reporting time 7.30) so basically all the seats at the bottom floor was taken up long long long time ago. keith came by too! and he hacked and got in though his ticket was for the 3PM show.

haha jolyn, haha.

saw plenty of other people i knew too, like mchia along with 6j peeps and others! quite coincidental really. GL i see what you mean now.

anyway, congrats to ALL the NYMD-ers. you people did a great job.

happy birthday to jasdeep tomorrow (40 more minutes)! so sorry, but i dont think i can make it for your uber cool party at the cage :/

i think mugging's going to eat me soon.

finalshots and misses; | 8:03 AM

well-fought raffles rugby B division for the match today, you guys definitely had loads of teamwork though in a twist of luck didn't manage to get enough points. 1st runners up is a well-deserved one as you worked pretty damn hard to achieve what you managed to today.

looking at the ruggers and the school spirit today somehow brings me to the topic of my ever-so-horrible attitude towards gymnastics. wondered if i could ever work harder in this area. hope i'm able to.

doing's another monumental matter altogether.

looking at the date also reminds me of everything that's happened to the past year to even before tramp comp. speaking of which it's just a mere 2 days.

Quote of the Day:

i think;
that you'll know what i mean
when those precious things pass into your hands.
i hope.

Get well soon martyn! and good luck to all CCT-ers.

on second thought,
hope's not the most common thing in the world today.

instead of holding you- | 7:36 AM

ORA Walk-a-jogathon and OM!

happened today.

woke up bright and early at 6.20AM (i was intending to wake up at 6, woops!) and started preparing for the OMGWTHBBQIMBA)!(*#&%)!@#-busyish day ahead. set off at uh, hah, 7AM when I was supposed to be at RI at 7. Got there in time though because the booth was 'hackcoughdominatedbyrgpbgoodscoughhack' so we didn't really have a place to sell the wonderful ice lollies.

[note the heavy sacarsm]

started filling up the dunking capsule along with other ripb and rgpb prefects when starting the dunking booth. after like 10000 12kg buckets of water and a very long hose, we finally wasted probably a hundred litres of water into the capsule. so much for conservation of natural resources!

[end spoilsportish tone]

initially it attracted loads of people and prefects alike to the booth (first up were attractions like bigteo) though not many wanted to pay the 5 bucks for three throws. they eventually lowered the price (wise, too) to 3 bucks two throws and i'm quite sure the dunkees were enjoying it. Right, gltheultra? =D

after walking around fruitlessly trying desperately to sell ice lollies, me and renjie (who were the hardworking ones! :D) finally stopped because it was kind of discouraging when quite little people wanted to buy it. we kind of stopped at at table then people started queueing up like a small crowd ! woah quite cool quite cool (and it was accidental too!) and we managed to sell loads, albeit shaving years off our lifespan due to stress.

and i tell you my white pants are a cool shade of yellowgreenpurpleredorange

managed to sell about 5/8 of all the lollies though! so i'm quite pleased with myself, renjie and jarret who were helping out from 8-10AM while the others were slacking.

after that i went around buying stuff like 2 bubbleteas and hanging out at the kemama shop was a mix of cool and slightly boring. by now i was feeling rather tired due to sleeping only about 4-6 hours (nocturnal people go away) so i was mainly helping out abhinav doing the RI-DIO. so if you heard my voice today, you are blessed!

nah i'm just joking. and stupid abhinav just had to add that extra part at the end of my dedication =.= which was WRONG in case you heard it.

somehow i was feeling rather hungry when i left the funfair. saw loads of people that day too! altogether i bought a raffles185badge, black/gold wristband other random stuff o_o

congratulations to all the dunkees! coughcough.

--

after lunch at yoshinoya went with jocee to ACSI to watch the OM finals! initially we were on the right track, but we got ACSI mixed up with their boarding facilities and ACJC. so in the end we had to walk back about a bus stop, which was pretty far actually (10 minutes walk?)

and some RG person walked up and asked me for directions to ACSI. glad i managed to find out the exact location before telling her if not their group would be at ACJC cursing some random dude in black and white.

and she thought i was from ACSI! or rather she asked if i was.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO x10000

no kelly having the acs look isn't really a great thing. i'm not rich like certain people o_o thanks anyway.

got lost at ACSI with josiah walking around. their campus is seriously big with no directions man so it wasn't really our fault that we ended up late for so many performances. managed to find the place eventually with help from very nice OM aunties who even gave us a performance booklet.

managed to catch the last 2 shows for the day which was NJC and RGS's one.

2 words and one symbol.

RGS OM > NJC OM

or rather.

RGS OM > other school OM

owch. seriously no wonder they were winning loads of medals and all. they're seriously good with their acting + props + coordination and all. though, their cheers were seriously damn low. freakyyyy.

congrats to daphne and claire for their team first and team second respectively!

returned home at 6.30. that's like 11 1/2 hours out.

-flops on the floor, dead-

Quotes ofthe Day:

"James is the king of girls. I mean, king of analysing."-Kelly

oh and lastly still another happy birthday post to GLtheLeeni. wooohooo.

4 MORE DAYS TO TRAMP COMPETITION PEOPLE! let's go team raffles!

bleargh-ed out. | 7:55 AM

today's such randomonistique day.

we pwned 3F 4-0! 4 of our midfielders/attackers all scored a goal apiece.

ORA day tomorrow, please do go down to the RIPB booth. and do watch out for our soundspeakers in action! (good use finally?) for RI-DIO. buy all you want, and do check out the dunking booth! something tells me it's going to be a huge hit =D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GLTHEULTRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ON 12TH APRIL! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. -ends scene-

and definitely good luck to all OM-ers like daphne and claire and ORA jogger/walkers/boothtenders for a great day ahead especially those participating in the activities.

my parents don't seem to agree that tonight's not for homework. besides, left out's something i commonly feel these days.

Quote of the Day:"Chander has a plan (:"-Max

and I will never forsake you."

x is tired of- | 7:36 AM

go down to the RIPB booth on ORA day! where you can dunk certain prefects, teachers and whats' nots into a pool of water. no, the rgspb people will NOT be wearing white shirts so don't get your hopes up. (cough james cough)

anyway, the other booths is the raffles merchandise with pretty cool stuff like wristbands, hoodies and badges going at 4, 20, 2 bucks respectively though the price isn't fixed permanently yet.

ice lollies are the last one (lol) which is kind of weird but i'll be tending that booth from 7-10am that day, so do come down if you're thirsty after running that measly 1.6km.

that's done with ripb propoganda stuff.

--

this sucks.

i'm not sure what to give up on
everything's just becoming so tiring now.

damned hard you're right.
balancing the worlds on your fingertips isn't really

thrash in all you've got | 8:07 AM

somehow i feel a really good feeling after doing ripb work. gives me that sense of satisfaction, somehow.

in contrast,

i look at my pile of physics notes and i'm reminded of the long day tomorrow. physics quiz along with another missed PE lesson. which also reminds me of procastinating RE left in the corner to be cleaned up along with chinese project due in 3 weeks time.

oh noes. i shouldn't look at physics.
Hence, the above scenario leads me to an inductive argument that physics is bad for your mental health.

crap. this reminds me of philosophy cct on friday.

Quote of the Day: "Somehow, when there's girls' school investiture you have people queuing up to go."

there isn't a need to wonder why with that ever-so-suggestive wink ;)

was it something i said?
maybe i'm not good enough.

Tuesday, April 08, 2008
abstractionante | 7:19 AM

my gosh, i have to report to the ORA booth on 12th April by 7AM in the morning to organize the ice lollies store. goodbye sleep :/

and so i've realised that my blog's becoming rather boring (at least it is, to me) perhaps due to the sheer lack of posts. whose fault could it be! O: or maybe it's just because i was sick over the past few days so i probably didn't have the energy to complete the arduous tasks of lifting my finger muscles.

regarding the interclass soccer, i'm glad to say we managed to pull off a win against 3B with a slight margin of 1-0. last minute goal by pingyen! :D which places us in the top of the league (still) with 10 points altogether! -waves flag-

there's nothing much interesting happening these few days, save for the deadly duo: physics quiz and philosophy cct. alliteration! this probably doesn't change the fact that i'm screwed for progress report 1.

anime is such a brilliant timewaster. oh, and shanzhi's finally back in school, albeit with a painful looking crutch. owch.

agh. i'm beginning to question my commitment to gymnastics. this can't be too healthy, can it?
on a brighter note, thanks to all those that showed concern about my health. you people are great! though i have a bad feeling i'm growing fat. napfa's not too far away, either.

go raffles.trampoline! you guys have about 8 more days to prepare to your very best.

Quote of the Day:"nobody knows the real me, i put on a constant facade."

somehow, this makes me laugh.

PS: flag day has a habit of making you question whether singaporeans do have compassion or not (like GLtheultra's topic). perhaps it's just because they prefer to donate to the other girls' school rather then donate to a guy. hackers! :O

you can take my breath away.
