to the only one that's true. | 8:25 AM
Rafflesian Spotlight in 19 hours or so :S
today was rough, but i'm glad it's over. hope tomorrow will be better. It's in Your hands now, it's all up to You. There's just no other way. Quote of the Day: "I bet you got higher than me. I only got 3.56 leh..."-Ashraf. THANKS AH. -- let us go. for better; or for worse. |

prettiest friend. | 8:43 AM
Rafflesian Spotlight in 1-2 days! (matter of 5 minutes) (:
EOYs horror, sigh. hope tomorrow brings better stuff, and moderation too. RI students have a serious need to redefine "OH MY GPA SUCKS." Gym wasn't all that well today :/ Guess my intuitions were right. -- while trying not to prove that I- |

just know it hurts. | 8:04 AM
EOY-retrieval-of-results wasn't as painful as I thought, with bare borderline grades (haha, chemistry) and disappointing English-es, sigh. Following an eruption of happyness and saddyness in the classroom, anyway.
Day 2 promises a lot more uncertainty, most-certain-sadness(es) and suspense o: Wherl, CCA Phototaking was just like last year, although 50mm-ing isn't very healthy for your legs as you have to keep moving back...and back...and back. Gym photos were relatively funny, I suppose! Candid Shot's with Zeyang.
Quote of the Day: "Wow, a 40D! I have a 5D actually."-Mr RayChan. that was camera language, if you didn't know. for the uninitiated (haha!) the 5D's much much more expensive than the 40D, which is Zeyang's camera in this case. funny how camera skills are judged by the size of your camera, too. catch yourself before you don't. | 8:41 AM
hooray for RE Report and Indiv. Portfolio: SLAYED!
today was good, in a weird sorta warmish-insideish sorta way. Whether it was circles around squares or the superbly soppy/cheesy/cliched scenes or the nonexistent players in that empty lane. oh dear, i'm not making much sense, am I? yeah, I enjoyed yours too (: -- remember to stop yourself. don't forget those things. before it's too late. |

meant to live. | 9:34 AM
Fumbling his confidence
And wondering why the world has passed him by Hoping that he's made for more than arguments And failed attempts to fly, fly We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? Somewhere we live inside Dreaming about Providence And whether mice or men have second tries Maybe we've been livin with our eyes half open Maybe we're bent and broken, broken We want more than this world's got to offer We want more than the wars of our fathers And everything inside screams for second life, yeah We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? We weren't meant to complicate Have we lost ourselves? We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? We were meant to live -- I need Your Strength, and the Faith to rely on it. |

don't be afraid to fall. | 9:50 AM
RS Stuff went pretty okay - I guess. Just feel that sometimes, the subject really has to know that they're not in the position of authority and that we're helping them. Instead of them expecting to spoonfed for every single thing, they should really learn to appreciate more.
Interact Club Installation was just scary - everyone was in blazer/shirt with tie/shirt while I was in PE, mind you. Totally Prefect Investiture-ish, scratch the fact that there aren't supposed to be people in PE shirts walking around taking photos. to RE Report, Individual Portfolios, RIPC Planning, RS, here we come. get well soon Micah! (: Quote of the Day:"ALRIGHT!" - typical RI guy upon hearing that there's refreshments for all guests during Interact Club Installation -- did anyone try too hard - I guess I did after all, there's nothing hanging and holding you up no more. |

of mice and men. | 8:39 AM
today, 1/8 of my time was spent waiting.
that's about 3 hours. 10 minutes before OIP presentation, 20 minutes at Paya Lebar MRT, 20 minutes at a bus stop near @ Amber Road, 2 hours at some Posh restaurant @ Pasir Ris Park. Was freezing to death at the last one and desperately trying to prevent my stomach from taking over by eating flattened fries and drinking $6-per-bottle water for free. (FYI, went to the restaurant to meet the Rafflesian Spotlight Sponsor. Turns out that he's a multi-millionaire at his age (about 29) or so. His story's of one from Rags-to-Riches, in fact. When he was 16, he was arrested for underage smoking or something, father was a butcher, humble background. But after getting a sponsorship to study overseas, he returned and managed to set up a chain of successful restaurants.) Such as Swiss Culture and Beach Culture. So, this post is basically to trick readers into symphathizing (due to the horribly long waiting times) and publicise Rafflesian Spotlight'08! Date: 31st October (Friday) Time: 7.15 Venue: Raffles Institution; Auditorium Ticket Price: $5 (First 200 tickets to be sold/booked/collected get a free $10 food voucher!) come with your friends; after all it's the event of the year! :D Quote of the Day: "I miss her." - Gifford, OIP Presentation -- there are no strings attached. there can't be. |

they made us, they broke us. | 9:22 AM
Haha today was pretty fun I suppose.
Went to Plaza Sing 2 days in the past 2 days O: First time was with Zac, Shien, Yoda, Weixuan, Yeeshing and Kwun Tong as a part of our after-EOY activity. Wanted to watch a movie; but meh - no nice movies at that moment so we had to settle for Painted Skin. Painted Skin's quite freaky actually (especially at the start) and even though it's a romance movie, it didn't really stop the rest from being sad at the romantic parts. somehow I was quite detached along with Shien o_o (of course, besides the horror parts where we were reduced to stuffing our ears with our hands and shutting our eyes as tightly as possible It really brought back memories - of the past 3A gathering where there was attendance (on a piece of 3A paper, no doubt o: ) by Derek. hahahaha. As it was quite a tragic movie, we, being typical 3A lit students, started examining it in the literical extent. "To what extent do you agree that 'Painted Skin' was a tragedy? Did the tragic hero feel a sense of hopelessness and of being trapped?' (Only those who took the Lit EOY paper will understand. Sorry!) Pool was next. Shien and Yoda are quite pro now, zomgut! Shien was going to the extent of being superbly spastic to prevent us from concentrating, and I'm quite sad to say sometimes it worked. HAHAHA. And contrary to most belief, I can hit the white ball now! Instead of poking people (at least, not as much x)) -- Was super super late for the gathering, woops. House Bunny was.....quite bimbotic. The start was seriously NOT PG. At least PG-13 due to the super many sexual connotations they made. It was seriously degrading at some parts. But I was quite surprised at the end that it really did have a moral - especially to the opposite gender. Find out by watching! (oh yes, it was funny.) Sakae Sushi was just quite tragic. Poor Trisha, haha. Was really really full after trying to stuff myself as much as possible O: I'm broke, for once D: PS: An ego comment. I like Joel's Display picture on his handphone! Quote of the Day:"And as we row on, boats against the current, borne ceaselessly into the past!"-Shien, rowing a make-shift boat using the stick-you-use-to-hit-the-white-ball-in-pool. No, I don't. No, I can't. |

when the oceans rise and thunders roar. | 9:09 AM
"Chem was supposed be a bath of crimson blood,
So for many days we studied hard. But after the scripts were handed up, We thought to ourselves, wtf? Physics’ is easy, says Tee Double-u S, So easy that you will own the rest. Slack we did; something we did best, But sekali we got owned, in the ass. Since the reverse of teacher’s words are always true, And that Bio’s a breeze was the clue, No point studying, somethingsomething-poo, ‘Cause it will end up, killing you." -Ruijie EOYs are.....(a) scary bunch of papers. Shall not talk about Murderous (A)Math, Perplexing Physics, Confusing Chemistry/Chinese, Elaborate English (and) Scary SocialStudies D: Right. there's nothing much to talk about else if you take away EOYs. Other than the fact that EOYs seem much more draggy this year. I can't wait for it to be over. 20th, you really should pass more quickly. Or should you? PS: Happy birthday Taohui, Delwyn, Chinjie, Russell, Beatrice, Abel (and) October People! :D PPS: (bracketed words) are edited words. FINE, grammar >: D Quote of the Day: "What was the power output of the Nazi killings during the Holocaust? 50W (50 Jews per second)" - Jarrell. Too much physics, I think. -- I will soar with You above the storm. and be Still. 2. don't let this break us. |

iridescent, just like your eyes. | 8:12 AM
today was fun, I suppose.
Felt many similarities. Same places, same food, same subjects. you have no idea. made a new nice friend with two names. Chemistry and Math skills were humbled (ow, but they weren't placed in high regard in the first place) and discovered places that are on the Red Line on the MRT (instead of the Green Line as previously thought) gambles were made, deadlines were set. this is different (: |

Prometheum. | 8:32 AM
It's this time of the year again, where people hand over things to the new batch, where the old are replaced by the new (though never forgotten) and new responsibilities are befitting of the old memories.
Prometheum Day; PSL Meeting, it brings back all too much nostalgia. seeing the JRIC come out on the ppt during PSL meeting today, it was really, really overwhelming. Wasn't it just like yesterday when we were blur-ly led to the RJC Hall for the investiture? or led to the Jr Block Atrium with the Hakka, decoration of flags, morning PTs... It's really way too fast, and I didn't think I'd ever be standing in the place of a PSL (or rather SPSL, like Zhiwen). when you look back, you placed these people in extremely high regard - yet now you're standing in their shoes, albeit 4 years later. So to 1B'09, heh. you're gonna have a heck of a orientation (: -- Prometheum Day! (is tomorrow). what's going to be different about our batch of CCALs? definitely hundreds have came before us (ok fine, maybe tens, but it doesn't sound as nice) and each of them have added a abit, even just a little bit, to years of history. what we receive up there might just be a souvenir of the past and present, but it's monumental in authority which decides the future. so here's to you, Raffles '09! it's our turn now. just watch us. -- Signs of EOY-delusions (chemistry): "And maybe it will turn around and fall in love with us and we will MAGICALLY DO WELL :D" If you just realize what I've just realized, Then we'd be perfect for each other And we'll never find another. |

last nights; first chances. | 10:03 AM
Last night at boarding!
Dinner with Changchun people (again) was much more successful this time (better organized) at Swensens. Ate quite a lot, and ended up paying alot too >_> Pictures are a rare possibility, so keep looking anyway (: Prank Calls, Tennis Lessons with Delwyn (woooohooo), Running back in the rain from J8, Prometheum Day, what more? Seems like we're just stepping into the towering block yesterday, daunted by the lousy boarding internet and impossible-to-survive prep times. Will post more tomorrow! |

the things that bind us. | 9:41 AM
haha mad-tv by edwin, ashraf and joel in my room now. just trying to get used to the fact that school's started and no more slacking off for DMP :/
RE Congress/Science Hub Opening Fair, Prometheum Day Rehearsal, RLP2 Photoshoot (!!), Last Night Dinner awaits tomorrow! Jiayou to all for EOYS, whether or not yours has started, just begun, or going to begin :] I think I really need the extra boost for it now. Quote of the Day: < hold on ah -2 minutes later- < |
