May people kill me for this, but I REALLY THINK THIS > HC BATCH DANCE!

let's just be. | 6:22 AM

1st day of Orientation!

Pretty eventful, started @ a pretty nice timing of 9.30 which gave the student venture time to talk/share/eat breakfast at the manna cafe. It was really cosy there! I really wish that we'd have more of these chances in the future to sit down and talk there.

MR 01's Good Charlotte, and though the guys are generally quieter than the girls I think we gel pretty well together :) We've discovered our talents to be excellent at football (wow) and controlling table tennis balls with the use of our breath. We're seriously a lot better now! As weird as it sounds.

Extra: I'd like to declare my everlasting unlucky-ness at Scissors-Paper-Stone. I JUST CANNOT DO THOSE GAMES.

OG Dinner at Long House was followed by walking to the playground nearby for some more games and oddly disturbing scenario-games. I like how the group's progressing, though! Like what Guan Lin would say, "We have Potential!"

Batch Dance tomorrow! Lulz.

St John's Island was pretty good! Though the lectures were pretty boring (:/) and the dirty shoes weren't in anyone's favour, the marine life, dorms and company made up for it. Though the last one was a little bit loud x)

The island's just off the coast of Singapore actually, near Marina Bay. Managed by Sentosa, betcha didn't know that. Sacrificing my shoes (fine, all our shoes) to trek around the sandy/rocky/mangrove-y regions were definitely worth it, though. I like to think of how God made every detail :)

Plankton catching was a cozy affair! Under the night sky and warm orange light (see facebook for more details) Felt a little like OBS minus the mud and sweat and add a little bit of civilization. Just a little bit. Looking at the plankton was pretty cute, too under the microscopes.

Kudos to the J2s and teachers who planned out this trip, it was relaxing and informative at the same time. Best of all, it was free :D

ORIENTATION TMR! Hello to you Good Charlotte.

PS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM SU + WEIXUAN TAN!!!

need no introduction. | 7:57 AM

I tell you, the Econs Lecture (about valuation) is making us all cynics about MNCs and things that suck up our money in secret. Today, I went to buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks (fine, not really coffee) and the lecturer's words kept flashing through my mind about it being scam, etc etc.

It's definitely interesting though, and as convincing as it is YAY I STILL BOUGHT THE DRINK. Hence I don't feel so tired now 8)

Today was relaxing, though. Was so bored I sketched a cup on my free starbucks notebook (which was on offer with the drink I bought, btw) woohooo. I am proud of my Singaporean-ness.

An exciting week beckons! Trials/Auditions, St John's Island, Orientation... Huzzah.

memory stains. | 8:07 AM

HR Dinner was superbly awesome at Sakura, I think we really had a great time. Great time connecting back with the seniors/juniors respectively, and we ate a lot and we talked a lot too :D THIS IS WHY WE ARE THE COOLEST DEPARTMENT IN RIPB!!!!!!!!

Tennis wasn't really tennis, although we did manage to get the ball over the net (some didn't even touch the racket, gosh.) and I really need to work on hitting! It's a lot more complicated than badminton, but I do suppoze it's more glamorous.

Induction Programs have been talk talk talk talk talk! (like previously mentioned.) I'm pretty bored at home though most of the time, hence sleeping has been my favourite past time. Looking forward to Invictussssss.

I should sleep soon! Feels like I haven't been to Church since forever. Hm.

Nickname of the Day:

love like rain that washes pain away. | 6:49 AM

It's really weird seeing a (blue) flood around in Junction 8 and in school. It's just unnatural, like against the order of nature. HAHAHA.

Induction Programs have been a little boring so far! Looks like I've got my work cut out for me for mathematics and GP. Math Bridging lesson today was a scary lesson which made me resemble a failing engine.

YAY IT'S THE WEEKENDS! HR dinner tomorrow C:

Quotes of the Day:

- Nellie Ki | there's love that falls like rain. says:

it gets better. | 6:51 AM

after a while everything gets frustrating and annoying. Like the way keyboards screw up and the way your brain can't make sense of anything.

Studying Nigel.F's notes only serves to make me feel dumb :/ I DON'T GET ANYTHING!!!

Tomorrow will be a better day. I feel guilty about spending so much money today.

but I guess I could try for your heart. | 8:39 AM

UPDATE ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!

Haha i'm so not in the mood to do a friends post.

But anyway, I guess today will have to do! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALDEN MINUS 2 DAYS!

It was pretty cool eating with Patrick and Kwun Tong today (yum yum, Chicken Rice) and preparing for Alden's cake and all. It feels kinda surreal, stepping into RI after so long. Somehow it just feels like you're not part of it anymore. It scares me.

On a side note, the Secondary 4s'10 seemed so old! And conversely, we felt a lot younger hahaha. No more the boss of the school, it seems.

Raffles Trail was okay. I prefer my batch of Secondary 1s C: Somehow, they seemed a lot more enthusiastic about the CCAs (gym, at least) in 2009. It was kinda nostalgic, seeing bunch of new, innocent, clueless faces streaming in and being forced to greet teachers and seniors.

Austin's party tomorrow! I am enjoying having no school. I should start studying soon though.

Nah C:

Slow it down. | 8:28 AM

Closure. | 8:36 AM

Hello new decade! (see, this is a much cooler phrase than HAPPY NEW YEAR. It's 10 times cooler, because you only can say it once every 10 years.)

2009!

I somehow find myself struggling to strike a position between weixuan's post/guanlin's post (see: fat/and rea) Guan Lin, I mean no harm! I've put a / just to prevent misunderstandings because she's really not fat. :D

I'm not about to blow my own horn, but looking back I realize that i'm going to miss the Secondary School life, 1B the cute/horny class of cute demonic spawns, Photog, Gym, PB, Morrison..

I realized that I came into RI with purposes of gym, mainly (DSA.) I never thought that I'd get so in love with photog, fall into the dark side of RIPB (see: Mafia) nor find myself not caring about my throat during Morrison cheering.

I've grown a fair bit, too (not just in height. It wouldn't be a fair bit, if it was height solely.) If you see my 2006 posts, you'd sense a lot more immaturity, a lot more petty anger, and a lot more inappropiate use of the alphabets. PS: I dare you to!

Someow in 2006 when we stepped in the seniors looked a lot more imposing and tall. In 2009 I realised that most of the time it's just a feint (haha). Trademarks of a good leader are to Lead people where they ought to be, and not where they want to go. And you have to act like you're 100% convinced this is where you are going, and where you should go.

1A/2A:
This class loved acting, and it turned out 1/3 took lit, which is a huge amount already. I think it was the Drama Challenge in Sec 2 that inspired most of us to take Literature, actually. We may have had our differences and frictions (alas, the 13/14 adolescence!) and bitching was involved, which thus created the entity known as the Currypuff Girls. They made a name for themselves really quickly, as you'd realise. These friendships would be further solidified when we took part in Morrison events for the next 4 years or so. Our class was really enthusiastic about most things :D

3A/4A:
This class loved soccer! Hahaha. I must admit, it was initally extremely frustrating dealing with 3A because there were a lot of new faces, a lot of rule breakers, and a lot of grey areas in rulebooks. When does compassion come in? Is it worth it to let one slip away? It got to a point I got so frustrated and impatient I asked TMH to step in, and somehow by God's grace everything after that started improving. 4A this year was an awesome class together. Everyone didn't seem to find a fault in anyone, and by give and take everything just fell right into place :D I'm really glad for this class as well, and though we had our pre formed cliques, I found myself comfortable with everyone in the class :D

Photog:
I think i've improved! This year has been a really frustrating one, although seeing the turnout of Secondary 1 juniors is really gratifying, honestly speaking. I realized in Sec 3 that interacting with juniors was extremely important, and I'm glad we emphasized it this year. Though we may not have been visibly appreciated with anything, memories are more than enough. BECAUSE WE SHOOT BEYOND SIGHT!

Gym:
10 years in my inventory already! I somehow find that gym's really toughened me up mentally. Whenever I start doing PT I push myself more than in primary school (you will not believe how slack we are in primary school) It taught me a lot more about dedication too, because many things clashed at once. I'm glad to say that I gave gym my 100% in secondary 4, and I was duely rewarded with indivs. YAY!

PB:
To be very frank, in Secondary 2 I thought prefects were screwed up and easy to fool. HAHAHAHA. But after 2 amazing years in Raffles I realised that prefects aren't meant to book people. It's really a lot more behind-the-scenes work than what the students see, and we're seriously underappreciated. And I find it admirable that most of us don't complain about this position, which may sometimes be perceived as a burden. People stereotype us, but hey, that's what the reputation of excellence brings! (hahahaha.)

I'll do friends post soon. And to keep up with my tradition of not-following-up-on-blog-promises, don't wait up on me if you never see it again. >:D

--

we're torn between where each of us stand
you say so oh much about love and how we're meant to be
but you don't even know who "I" and "me" are supposed to mean.
